1 lb. pizza dough (homemade or store bought)
1 lb. sausage
8 oz. pizza sauce
1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)

In a large skillet, brown and crumble sausage. Set aside to cool. Roll out pizza dough into large rectangle. Cut slits about 1" apart on each of the long sides of the rectangle dough. About 1/3 of the left side should be sliced, the 1/3 in the middle should remain intact, and 1/3 of the right side should be sliced. Stir pizza sauce into sausage. Spoon onto center of pizza dough. Top with cheese if desired. Take the top left dough strip and cover the toppings; then take the top right dough strip and cover over the toppings. Alternate sides until the entire dough is "braided" up. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes.

This sausage braid was super yummy. It is like an inside out pizza. Tastes great even without cheese.
