16 oz. dried pitted dates
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups rice krispies
powdered sugar

In a medium saucepan, mix together dates, margarine, brown sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally at first up to constantly, until it thickens to a paste. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Mix in rice krispies. Allow mix to cool to touch (about 15 minutes) and roll into small balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Makes about 4 dozen.

These got really good reviews from several people who just happened to pop in the house over the week and tried them. Plus you feel like you aren't being SUPER bad...a date is a fruit, after all. :-)
